During a career that spans more than 20 years and has resulted in upwards of 50 Lehigh Valley Music Award nominations, Scott Marshall has given an immeasurable amount to the Valley’s music scene and community at large. Now, the community Marshall has served wants to assist the singer-songwriter in his time of need.

On February 19 from 1-6 p.m., The Cherrybombs, GirlCrue, Social Call, The Aardvarks, James Supra Blues Band, and surprise special guests will join the country rocker at Allentown’s Maingate Nightclub for a benefit in his honor as he recovers from surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.

Gloria Domina, who is helping to organize The Benefit for Scott Marshall alongside The Cherrybombs’ Tony DiLeo and others, noted the benefit as a way for the music community to give back to one of its brightest stars.

“When folks are diagnosed with cancer, most think it is a death sentence. Nowadays, with all doctors can do, that is not true, but of course, human nature kicks in,” Domina said. “We need to support everyone who is going through this. Scott needs his friends, family, and fans to not only pray for him and his family, but to pay forward all that he has done and has given. We have to come together to show him what he means to us, plain and simple.”

This decision, already a slam dunk, was made that much easier by Marshall’s philanthropy. The performer is known for dedicating his time and talents to a number of benefit shows throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley every year.

“Scott does at least 30 fundraisers a year. He doesn’t know how to say no,” Domina said. “The Valley would not be the same without Scott Marshall’s music and generous heart.”

Reaction to the show’s announcement has been overwhelmingly positive to this point. An official Facebook event has already received hundreds of responses from individuals who are interested in attending the show, even though it is still more than two months away.

“Not only the music community, but the community as a whole, has been reaching out for weeks,” Domina said. “Everyone wants to be there for Scott and his family. He has touched many lives.”

Currently, Scott Marshall is expected to perform at the event alongside the aforementioned acts, completing a musical lineup that promises to be fun and diverse.

“With that lineup, I would say ‘Put your seatbelts on,’” Domina said. “It’s going to be a great show.”

Tickets to The Benefit for Scott Marshall will be available for a $20 donation. In addition, friends, fans, and members of the public are encouraged to pitch in with gift cards and baskets for an auction to take place at the event.
