The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Wednesday, October 2

Ah, to be young and in love, falling for “the one” with reckless abandon…
Oh, sorry. Didn’t see you there.
Don’t mind us — it’s just that “City Lights,” the new single from Atlanta-based alt-pop duo Cardiac Half, has us daydreaming and feeling carefree. For that reason, it’s today’s Daily Spinn.
Once you hear it, you’ll surely feel the same way. The cool glow of the Drew Miller’s sweeping synths put a hint of magic in the air. Miller — who forms the band with his brother Dylan (bass/backing vox) — also sings lead, offering a light and smooth melody that adds to the single’s romantic ambiance.
“The primary theme in ‘City Lights’ is love, absolutely. There’s also a dreamy element to the song in the sense that the characters are high class for one night,” Miller said. “They’re living life large, doing what they want, whenever they want. Money and sleep, none of it matters for this one night. Tomorrow will come, and then they’ll just be your average Joes. But even if tomorrow were to never come, they’d still have each other.”
The band also released a video for the single, directed by Bryan Bishop and featuring the acting talents of KateLynn Newberry. The video captures the magic of new love on a summer’s night, and you can watch it below.
