Sunday night was a time for authentic country music, presented by Music City’s favorite independent radio station.

Lightning 100 hosted country stalwart Kendell Marvel at its weekly Nashville Sunday Night concert broadcast at the renowned 3rd & Lindsley. Marvel, who released his latest record Solid Gold Sounds earlier this month, came fresh off the road from supporting Chris Stapleton to deliver a spirited set featuring songs from the record alongside other favorites. Highlights included the forthright southern rock anthem, “Hard Time with the Truth,” as well as the tender and wistful “Gypsy Woman” from 2017’s Lowdown & Lonesome.

Supporting Marvel was George Shingleton, whose distinct vocals complemented a commanding onstage presence to make for a compelling acoustic set, made complete by blistering guitar work and the West Virginia native’s trademark everyman narratives.
