PHOTOS: Sad Girl Night at Helping Our Music Evolve (2019 Finale)

It’s been a pleasure to become acquainted with the mission and people behind Sad Girl Music throughout our first full year in Nashville. Likewise, we’ve enjoyed seeing their monthly Sad Girl Night showcases grow at Helping Our Music Evolve.

On Sunday night, we got to experience that growth one more time to close out 2019, and were treated to an evening full of stellar musicianship, authentic storytelling, and captivating vocals.

Many different shades of jazz and soul were abound on Sunday night, as the evening — curated by musician and Sad Girl Music founder Elisabeth Beckwitt — featured the vocal talents of St. Louis native Morgan Bosman; the lively appeal and relatable lyricism of Sira Faris; the tight and eclectic sounds of MELD, led by frontwoman Melanie Dewey; and the vintage-meets-modern jazz offerings of Anna Arata.

We congratulate our friends at Sad Girl Music on another night — and entire year — of exceptional, female-led musical brilliance. We were able to capture some photos from most of the night and, as you may have guessed, they are below.
