LISTEN: Someya’s “Hung Up Over You” Returns Us to Summers Gone By

Hey, remember the beach? Remember when we could go there freely?

Well, it may be a little while before we can do that on our own. In the mantime, the new single from Someya can take you there in mind and spirit.

The San Jose-based pop singer released “Hung Up Over You” at the end of March. The single is a slow-burning, nostalgic sampling of future pop; one that sends us longing for — and perhaps, chasing after — the fading glow of our youth.

“I wrote ‘Hung Up Over You’ when I was feeling nostalgic for a summer I once had,” she said. “It’s a deceptively gloomy-day bop.”

“Hung Up Over You” was brought to life in the studio by Nova Noir Productions’ Ed Clare and Georgeann Ireland. The pair teamed with Grammy-winning engineer Reto Peter, who most famously engineered Green Day’s watershed 2004 album, American Idiot.
