The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Thursday, April 16

Strap in and get ready for the elevator ride that never ends.
That’s the scene of a new lyric video from The Morning Herald for their fresh single, “Plus One.” The indie rockers — now based in Nashville by way of their native Philadelphia — drew inspiration from the work of Stanley Kubrick for the video, which features an endless and, at times, trippy ride through an elevator shaft.
As for the single itself, it was written and recorded by frontman Zach Leone about “the uncertainty, desperation, and attraction of asking a date to a dinner party.” The track’s psychedelic haze draws its influence and ambition from contemporaries like Tame Impala and The Arctic Monkeys, while its simmering mid-tempo groove tiptoes gently, yet deliberately alongside the tenuous situation of the single’s protagonist.
