LISTEN: On ‘High,’ Becoming Young Details the Love that Changed His Life

Last fall, we got to know Brandon Calano, the Boulder, Colorado native who performs under the name, Becoming Young. In that interview, Brandon told us about his journey, and the love that helped direct its course.
We explore that love further on “High,” the slow-burning new single from the Nashville-based pop artist.
“High” takes the narrative storytelling of Calano’s singer-songwriter background, and places it on top of a smoldering sonic bed that blends modern pop, R&B, and hip hop elements. The single, based on true events, is about meeting an irresistible new flame, and being so captivated by her that seduction becomes impossible to resist.
“I was very single at the time and enjoying it. I was definitely not looking for a relationship, but I met a girl one night who changed the course of my life,” Calano explained.
“High” was co-written alongside Knox Morris and Will Sivy, and produced by Nashville’s Austin Shawn. The single is set to appear on Becoming Young’s forthcoming, four-track EP, which will lead to a full-length album that explores the heartache following the story of “High.” The forthcoming album will feature tracks produced by Ryan Hadlock (Vance Joy, the Lumineers, Phillip Phillips, Milo Greene, and Brandi Carlile), and is slated for mixing by John O’Mahony (Matt Maeson, Coldplay, Twenty One Pilots, Vance Joy).
Let’s take the first step on this journey. Listen to “High” below!
