Give me some of that good, old-fashioned escapist kind of love.

It comes to us today courtesy of Thunder Eagle. The Nashville-based indie rockers released “Sweet Anna” to the world on Friday, off the heels of their debut single released back in March. The song follows our protagonist courting — or perhaps, chasing after — a woman of low self-worth, who spends these four sweet rock and roll minutes keeping him just far enough away. In the process, we get the sense that her low self-esteem serves as a look in the mirror for her male suitor.

The single — which was produced, mixed, and engineered at Rust Belt Studios in Detroit — made its way to us as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The band released “Sweet Anna” in this time of extremely limited touring — but with that said, they can’t wait to perform it live.

“As soon as things start to open up you better believe we’ll be booking every show we possibly can,” said drummer John Dudley. “We’ve spent a lot of this time in Nashville writing and rehearsing. Given the circumstances of coronavirus, we really didn’t know whether we should release new music. Then, we realized people are probably listening to new music now more than ever, and there’s no better time to introduce the world to Thunder Eagle.”
