Daily Spinn: Lauren Davidson Drinks to Forget on ‘Halfway to Hungover’

Even in quarantine, Lauren Davidson has been hard at work all year long, releasing single after single in advance of her Love Ain’t Fair EP.

Today, we kick off the week’s Daily Spinns with “Halfway to Hungover,” a scorned and smoky country rock tune. Written alongside Tommy Cole, and co-produced by Dave Ricco and Cristian Castro, “Halfway to Hungover” is about drinking to forget, as Davidson sings about drinking to numb the pain following a breakup.

“We wanted this song to feel smoky and sexy, but also convey the pain of losing someone, which is the backbone of this story,” Davidson said. “‘Halfway to hungover, and hardly over you.'”

“Halfway to Hungover” was written back in 2018, and work began in the studio before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Once the pandemic hit, Davidson was forced to pivot to complete the single.

“I actually recorded the vocals at home in my apartment during quarantine,” Davidson notes.

Now, the long road has led us here, to “Halfway to Hungover” as our Daily Spinn. Check it out below!
