Daily Spinn: Take a Trip with kazaizen on ‘Telephone (All Alone)’

Y’all… today’s Daily Spinn is a psychedelic joyride, and it comes to us from the Twin Cities region of Minnesota.

That’s the place kazaizen (real name Jonny Kasai) calls home, and where he shares a psychedelic musician’s collective with contemporaries such as Space Mall, CUZ, and WIZARDZ. He just released his new album, Cyclops Dragon Light Switch, on New Year’s Eve, which is a unique cross-section between fuzzed-out 60s psychedelia and modern-era dream pop.

For a sample of what’s in store, check out the video for “Telephone (All Alone),” the album’s third single. It’s easy to get lost in this rich soundscape, marked by the prominence of electronic keys, reverb-heavy vocals, and funk guitars from outer space. The video, meanwhile, reflects Kasai’s narrative of being bored and lonely, staring at the phone and waiting for someone to come calling.

From Saint Paul, to your eyes and ears, we invite you to check out “Telephone (All Alone)” below!
