WATCH: Violet Silhouette Releases Brooding Debut, ‘Any Way It Cracks’

At times, we are left with no other choice but to face the gap between where we are, and where we want to be.

Florida-based synthwave outfit Violet Silhouette has taken it upon themselves to examine that reality on their debut single, “Any Way It Cracks.” The multi-layered soundscape contains elements of post-industrial, new wave, post-punk, and electronica, which provide a weighty backdrop for brooding existential contemplation — particularly, the type that comes sweeping in on the heels of a late-night rendezvous.

“The first line finds you in the throes of a tryst, the pre-dawn light is playing its tricks and the effects of the late-night are still lingering. And, for a moment, you see the face of who you really want to be there instead,” the band notes. “The thoughts spiral from there. You’re barely existing and trying to cut through the days, all while trying to make some sense of not being able to reach what you’re yearning for.”

The video, directed by Ates Isildak, features Lily Vile as the female lead, and depicts the moment of hazy chaos that occurs when you’ve made one too many poor decisions. The video is available on Opensea as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT). You can purchase it there, or try before you buy via YouTube embed below.
